Erin Symanski, of Glitter & Grit, tells the idea of the inception of Hitchburgh:
Hitchburgh sprang from conversations with a few different wedding and event vendors about the lack of options for us to reach our clients. The traditional bridal shows tend to be cookie-cutter, commercial and big-box (vs. local), rather than what each of our “ideal” clients are looking for. I was sitting with Jimmy from greenSinner, discussing how Pittsburgh deserves better, and the idea for the wedding shows came into the conversation. A few days later, I had a meeting with Meredith from Wigle Whiskey to find out about their offerings for weddings and events, where we ended up having the same conversation. We collectively decided it was time to make it all happen!
Hitchburgh started with its first Hullabaloo in December 2013. Our wedding shows and website focus on local small businesses with unique and custom options for brides.
It takes a lot of vendors to make Hitchburgh happen, but the founding organizers are Glitter & Grit and greenSinner.
